Urban Canvas Program

Urban Canvas Program is an industry driven, pre-apprentice, training program that prepare students for the workforce in the Painter Decorator industry. A qualified journeyman provides the theoretical and practical training based on the Apprenticeship Manitoba standards. In addition, Workplace Essential Skills and Life Skills training are provided.


Employment Potential 

  • Graduates may find entry-level employment as a professional painter in the Residential, Commercial or Industrial sector
  • May earn up to $35 an hour (based on experience), with flexible hours
     

   DURATION AND FEES

  •  FREE includes: enrollment, training, and supplies
  • 10 Weeks, Monday - Friday,        9:00 am - 5:00 pm 
  • Graduates are equipped with painter’s whites and safety gear

   Admission

  • Be of Aboriginal ancestry (First Nation, Inuit, and Métis)  
  • Adults between the ages of 18-35 years old 
  • Must be current recipient of Employment Insurance (E.I)   
  • OR had a Employment Insurance claim in                                                                        the last 5 years
