Mixed Messages

November 27th, 2014 - January 30th, 2015

Mixed Messages is an exhibit of hand rendered messages to the audience, messages that might originally have been intended as social media updates or texts, but have been adapted for display in a more traditional artistic medium. The exhibit is an explores the concept of messaging in the digital age, and how technologies such as text messaging and the diversity of social media platforms have altered our communications with the outside world. Mixed Messages plays with the contrast of seeing such a message in the absence of the digital platform it usually inhabits. The show questions how messages might be altered when the platform for sharing them changes from a quick social media update on a newsfeed, to a hand crafted object occupying a physical space, created to last.
