Puzzle Pieces

June 19th, 2014 - August 15, 2014

Cycle was a pioneer in the Washington, DC graffiti scene in the early 1990s. He obtained his BFA from George Washington University in DC, and subsequently his MFA from the Academy of Art in San Francisco, having worked in New York and San Francisco, painting both legally and illegally, since then.

His works are strongly influenced by the 1980s New York graffiti he grew up admiring, his graphic design and fine arts background, skateboard culture, tattoo art, illustration and art historical sources he gained knowledge of through his education.

He has recently had a design piece accessioned into the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and was featured in the Art in the Streets exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles

Just running around the city, you know, somebody would inevitably have a magic marker and I was like - okay I want to write my name too
